the complete deluxe set of 19 offset lithographs (five with hand-coloring), and an additional illustration (F. & S. 115) affixed to the cover, the colors fresh, title page and colophon, 14 lithographs and the title page on gold paper, six lithographs on white wove paper, signed and numbered 31 (the edition was 100), dedicated 'to Hugh White' on the cover, the full sheets, bound (as issued), some of the gold sheets with minor scuffs and areas of oxidation, minor creasing at the corners of some pages, occasional soft handling creases throughout, the cover illustration with rippling throughout, creasing, a small loss at upper right and a minor loss at lower right, minor wear to the edges of the cover and occasional pressure marks, adhesive and time staining on the end pages, otherwise each generally in very good condition, including original colored interleaving tissues. 370 x 292 mm.

Lot Essay

An early edition created in collaboration with friends, this book was created shortly after a trip to Bankok, where Warhol had been inspired by traditional southeast Asian gold-laquered furniture with black designs.
