Provenance

By descent in the family of the present owner since circa 1900, in the Castle of Corroy-le-Château, near Gembloux.

Lot Essay

Constructed around 1270 by Count Philippe de Vianden, the castle of Corroy-le-Château is considered to be one of the best-preserved and most beautiful examples of medieval architecture in Belgium, built according to a pentagonal plan with four towers.
