Accompanied by IWC Guarantee dated October 2007, operating instructions, booklet on IWC founder F.A. Jones. Furthermore accompanied by original fitted wooden presentation box with silvered plaque engraved Portugieser F.A. Jones, Referenz 5442, 288/500 and outer packaging.
The IWC Portugieser F.A. Jones model was created to commemorate Florentine Ariosto Jones, the daring American businessman who founded IWC in Schaffhausen in 1868.
The classical style and size are reminiscent of the time of pocket watches, the movement, the unique calibre 98290, pays respect to the original "Jones Calibre" family of movements which brought IWC its initial fame. Particularly noteworthy is the characteristic elongated index which extends down from the balance cock, allowing adjustment of the balance beat, which at 18,000 vibrations per hour, is true to its historical predecessors.
The classic, timeless design of its case is combined with a large ball-shaped crown and moon-style hands, elements unique to the F.A. Jones Portugieser model. It was made in a limited edition of 3000 examples in stainless steel, 1000 in 18K pink gold and only 500 in platinum.
