Il peut être rapproché du très émouvant La femme aux yeux bleus (1919; Musée National d'Art Moderne, Paris), où l'on reconnaît le traitement de l'arrête du nez et des lèvres, mais surtout l'expression mélancolique de la jeune femme que ses contemporains comparaient souvent à un cygne.
