The face is not always the most faithful representation of a person's inner thoughts. Indeed, just as one cannot judge a book by its cover, this is possible because humans have the ability to fabricate their facial expressions. In other words, it is possible that we humans canmake a facial expression that is completely opposite or different from what we may be feeling inside in that instant. We often opt not to reveal the natural state of our expressions and choose to hold back that which is natural. And in such an unnatural state, we are required to hold ourselves back. This is probably the very difference between us humans and animals with a low intellectual capacity. Holding ourselves back, we live our lives pretending not to be sick when we are actually feeling very sick, pretending not to be happy when you are, pretending not to love someone when you do, as well as pretending to love someone you don't, acting like you like someone you don't etc!KIt is almost useless to list the man instances in which we do this. In any case, if one does not do a good job of managing his/her expressions, he/she could possibly hurt another's feelings and therefore it s in fact important that we are careful not to be caught expressing our true thoughts, so as not to hurt another person. Any fabricated facial expression creates the effect of wearing a mask. And it is my suggestion that we should never take off the mask. It might even be necessary to survey just what percentage of the time in your day you are in fact expressing your own emotional state. If the percentage of time you spend revealing your natural emotional state is relatively high, the higher the percentage, the more you are lacking thought or being a simpleton, but on the other hand perhaps you are one with a very generous heart and closer to the proper percentage one should be.
Living life is to torture the face. The facial surface is the most aged part of the human body. It is always exposed and therefore subject to suffering. It is constantly tortured by the rough and tumbles of life. The back of human head, on the other hand, covered with hair, is in fact much less aged as compared to our faces. I would say, at least by a decade!K
Seeing the world through the mask of our facial expressions makes me feel dark and lonely. That is because I am lacking the confidence to face the world. Is is because I have the benefit of not allowing my true expressions show? We are all wearing masks with two holes in the eyes, all the while harboring our voyeuristic tendencies with the desire to watch others over exposing ourselves.
