In the present work Scott has confined the figure within the limits of the paper's space. Of another work Bending Figure I, Norbert Lynton said 'The figure can be seen as standing but bending down quite sharply to fix one stocking with its right arm, rather crudely indicated. The left arm, also slight, is bent so that the hand touches the back of the almost faceless head. This makes better sense if the figure is shown seated on the horizontal sheet of paper' (William Scott, London, 2004, p. 400).
