Lot Essay

Another chalk drawing of the head of a youth was sold at Christie's, New York, 10 January 1990, lot 66. The degree of similarity between the sitters indicates that the artist most likely used the same model, one that reappears in a pen and ink drawing of six head studies sold in these Rooms, 4 July 2006, lot 31.
