In 1906, entrepreneur Claus Johannes Voss and merchant Christian Lausen, with the aid of Wilhelm Dziambor, founded the Simplo-Filler Pen Company, which was later changed to the official trade name, Montblanc, in 1910. Legend has it that the founders decided to name the company Montblanc during a game of scat when an analogy was drawn between the highest mountain in Europe, Mont Blanc, and their desire to create writing instruments of the highest quality. The way individuals express themselves is rooted in the culture of writing, as is Montblanc. For this reason, it is part of Montblanc's mission to promote art and culture in their writing implements.

This pen was created to pay tribute to the architectural style of the famous columned exterior of the White House and its renowned Blue Room. In particular, the striated resin barrel was inspired by the architectural design of that period. The eponymous relationship is also captured in the diamond-studded cap ring, which is a miniature rendering of the south balcony and the clip's eagle symbolizes the United States of America. As a tribute to the succession of Presidents to date, this Limited Edition pen is one of just forty-three of its kind.
