With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1946 and its subsequent sale on 21 October 1947.
The particularity of this watch is the lack of any outer scientific scale, such as tachymetre, telemetre or pulsometre as commonly found on such a chronograph. The type of dial not being mentioned on the Extract from the Archives and the absence of any apparent traces of removal of such scale lead to the assumption that it might have been made as is, possibly upon special request of its first owner.
Never offered in public before, this watch was purchased by the father of the present owner and has remained in the family ever since.
Production of reference 1579 was launched in 1943. The large case and the unusual lugs, also called spider lugs because of their resemblance to a spider's legs, make it easily distinguishable from other Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatches of the era.
