Over the last two years, paintings by Farhad Moshiri have often featured brightly coloured "pies" of acrylic, extruded through an icing sugar tube, applied to paintings on canvas, giving the works an almost edible appearance. Moshiri's subject in these "Candy Store" images was often a little girl's room, executed in a polished, cartoon-like and saccharine way. The present work stands apart from the rest- the red figure, entirely constructed of these little "pies" except for the imitation ruby "eyes" is somewhat alarming. In the words of the artist "something between Caspar the Friendly Ghost and the Shining".
