René Lalique acquired his premises at Rue Thérèse in 1890, with a staff numbering approximately 30. It was there that Lalique began to incorporate glass motifs into his jewels, from the late 1890s onwards, during which time his use of enamels also became more adventurous. Enamel became almost an intrinsic part of a Lalique jewel and his masterful technique of transparent pique-à-jour enamel in particular, was perfected as a recognisably unrivalled technique.
