En 1987, à Hamburg, l'artiste et manager autrichien André Heller réalise un "rêve d'enfant" avec Luna Luna - ein Shönes Vergnügen (Luna Luna, une belle attraction). Il s'agit d'un marché annuel de l'art moderne qui s'étendra du Dammtor à l'Alster, c'est en réalité un parc agrémenté de sculptures, avec concerts en plein air et théâtre de rue signé des plus grands.
L'artiste Roy Lichtenstein y réalise un labyrinthe en verre, Salvador Dali un "Dôme Dali", Keith Haring, le peintre new-yorkais, un carrousel, et Jim Whiting de coûteux "robots".
D'autres artistes créent également des oeuvres originales pour Luna Luna.
Parmi eux figurent Kenny Scharf, David Hockney, Georg Bazelitz, Jean Tinguely, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hundertwasser, Jörg Immendorf ou encore Roland Topor.
L'oeuvre présentée constitue l'un des travaux préparatoires à la réalisation du labyrinthe.
In Hamburg in 1987, Austrian artist and manager André Heller produced a 'child's dream' in Luna Luna - ein Schönes Vergnügen ( Lune Luna, a beautiful attraction). This was a modern art market stretching from Dammtor to Lake Alster, which was really a park brightened up with sculptures, open-air concerts and street theatre from the leading names in their fields.
Artist Roy Lichtenstein produced a labyrinth in glass, Salvador Dali a 'Dali dome', Keith Haring, the New York painter, a carrousel, and Jim Whiting 'robot' knives. Other artists also created innovative works for Luna Luna. They included Kenny Scharf, David Hockney, Georg Baselitz, Jean Tinguely, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hundertwasser, Jörg Immendorf and Roland Topor. The work presented here is one of the preparatory works in the production of the labyrinth.
