Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe cardboard slipcase, winding box, Certificate of Origin dated December 29, 1999.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe produced the reference 5059 from 1998 until 2006 when it introduced the much anticipated 5159. The reference 5059 is known for its retrograde date display. The date hand traverses a 240 arc located within the hour scale between 8 and 4 o'clock. At midnight on the last day of each month the date hand "flys" back to the first of the next month.
