Untitled (278) and Untitled (277) were created to accompany Yves Klein's exhibition Monochrome und Feuer held at the Museum Haus Lange in Krefeld, Germany, in 1961. Under the direction of Paul Wember this show became the largest retrospective in the artist's lifetime surpassing everyone's expectations, and giving the audience the opportunity of bringing home a little memento of his work, an Éponge bleu.
