Lot Essay
Instead of paintings, John Korner refers to his works as "problems". These problems are simultaneously thematic and artistic: a surrealistic troubling of existential paradigms underlying visible reality. Natural phenomena take on a colourful metamorphosis while physical constraints vanish. Whimsical and ironic, the interplay between frothy motifs and structural depth creates a varied, fantastical world which pricks at the edges of our waking consciousness.
