Marked Fabergé, with the workmaster's mark of Vladimir Soloviev, St. Petersburg, 1908-1917, scratched inventory number 21355
Rectangular with rounded corners, overall reeded, the hinged cover applied with a diamond-set Imperial double-headed eagle at one corner and cabochon sapphire thumb-piece, one end fitted with a match strike and tinder cord finial with cabochon sapphire, later fitted as a pencil, the interior of the cover with an engraved dedication inscription, 'S. Sorine, from Lord and Lady Jersey. London. 1938', marked inside cover and base, with London import marks for 1913
