Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with black dial and applied steel hour markers in 1939 and its subsequent sale on 21 February 1942.

To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never been offered at auction before and is furthermore the only example of a reference 651 with black dial to appear in public to date. Preserved in very good overall condition, its rarity is enhanced by the rare retailer signature Casa Masson, one of Patek Philippe's agents in Brazil.
