Lot Essay

Honey pots of this bee-skep form enjoyed a particular vogue from about 1790-1820. A Paul Storr example from 1799 sold Christie's, London, 14 June 2005, lot 83, and a Hobbs & Taylor skep, 1798, sold Christie's, New York, 26 October 2006, no 118.
