Lot Essay

Her series White and Sphere was the subject of Onodera's first solo exhibition in 1993 and garnered much acclaim. In this wonderfully atmospheric photograph, she captures the movement of bouncing balls in an interior devoid of people. The relationship between objects and space is a central theme in her work. Paris-based Onodera is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Kimura Ihee Award (2003) and the Prix Niépce (2006). Her works have been shown internationally and are held in various collections, including the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Number 2 from the sold-out edition of 15.
