Lot Essay

Inspired by the mobile phone phenomenon in Japan, Yamaguchi wears a bodysuit painstakingly crafted from mobile phone keypads and large headphones with streaming wires to transform herself into a futuristic cellular being. Commenting on the lack of physical interactions within cyberspace, she created Keitai Girl whose many keypads beg to be touched. Living and working in Kobe, Yamaguchi explores a wide range of art forms, including photography, video, performance art, sculpture and drawing.

Number 10 from the sold-out edition of 10.
