The collection included fine vintage prints of Woman with Glass Tears (now in the collection of Sir Elton John) and Noire et Blanche. Their friendship reflected shared interests in the arts, but also the debt owed by Man Ray to Elsa, for it was through an introduction initiated by her that Man Ray, newly arrived in Hollywood after leaving Paris at the outbreak of war, met his bride-to-be Juliet.

American Lee Miller became Man Ray's partner and muse and was to pursue an independent career as a photographer, eventually settling in Britain as the wife of distinguished artist, collector and historian Roland Penrose.
