Lot Essay

This picture is sold with a copy of a certificate by Ingvar Bergström, dated 1985. In a groundbreaking article on Osias Beert's collaboration with Rubens (op. cit.), Bergström identifed five flowers in the present composition (four tulips and the narcissus) that closely follow drawings by the master.
