Lot Essay
Taking his inspiration from the walls of Berber villages in Morocco, Hakim Ghazali's minimalist works from this series combine almost a monochromatic ground with flashes of colour and details - strings of words and symbols. In the past, these villages were often fiercely competitive, and the tribes would not communicate with each other verbally, but more secretively through graffiti scrawled across the walls of the dwellings. Ghazali combines this with his deeply spirtual and esoteric choice of words to produce haunting and poetic images.
