Lot Essay

The partnership of James Markwick and his son-in-law Robert Markham is recorded in London between circa 1725 and 1805. Although Markham died in 1730, Robert Markham continued to use the combined name. Marwick Markham specialized in clocks and watches for the Ottoman Empire (see lot 35 in this auction).
