Signed Markwick Markham Perigal, London, no. 16'798, circa 1780
Gilt-finished verge movement, chain fusée, finely pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, diamond endstone, pierced pillars, white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gilt beetle and poker hands, inner case with polychrome champlevé enamel floral decorated band, reverse with a finely painted polychrome enamel bouquet of flowers on translucent pink enamel background, scalloped middle case with polychrome enamel floral decorated bezel and undulating rim, reverse with a finely painted polychrome enamel lake scene depicting a frigate in full sail, scalloped outer protective case with polychrome champlevé enamel floral decorated undulating rim, glazed back, matching gold and enamel châtelaine decorated with painted polychrome enamel lakeside scenes, hinged silver clip to the back, dial and movement signed
39 mm. overall diam., overall length of the châtelaine approx. 80 mm.
