According to the archives of Patek Philippe, the present watch was originally sold with a gold case. Consequently, no Extract from the Archives could be provided. The present silver case is attractive and bears the engraved inscription No. 143790 Made to Special Order by Patek, Philippe & Co. Geneva to the inside of the case back.
The case back is signed by the French artist Frainier, celebrated for his silver case designs at the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century. The decoration is a typical example for the Art Nouveau style, emphasizing curved vegetable lines to create an impression of lightness and charm and using one of the epoch's most favorite flowers, the iris.
It was most certainly made to special order for an admirer of this very elegant and sophisticated style, wishing to combine its beauty with the superb craftsmanship of a Patek Philippe movement.
