Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Montres Universal, the present watch was manufactured between 1951 and 1952. Reference 112.167 was available with personalized enamel dials, depicting maps, animals, coat of arms and other motifs.

Based on the emblem of the Dominican Republic and engraved inscription of the case back, the present watch was supposedly given by the Dominican Air Force to General Hector Bienvenido Trujillo Molina (6 April 1908 - 19 October 2002). He succeeded his brother Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina as president of the Dominican Republic in 1952 and maintained this position until 1960.
