Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin confirming the purchase of the present watch with black dial on 27 November 2007, Nautilus booklet, original fitted veneered presentation box and outer packaging.

Purchased by the present owner at Patek Philippe in 2007, this watch has never been offered publicly before and is preserved in like new overall condition. It is furthermore believed to be only the second example of a reference 5711/1A to appear at public auction to date.

Reference 5711 was launched in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the legendary "Nautilus" model, introduced into the market in 1976 with reference 3700 (see lots 75 and 76 in this auction).

Ref. 5711/1 features a case diameter of 43 mm., one millimeter larger than its 1976 predecessor and the addition of the sweep centre seconds hand. The slight increase in size is due to the rounder form of its sides.
