Lot Essay

With Breguet Certificate dated 2 October 2001 confirming the sale of the present watch to M. Cartier on 27 December 1969 for the amount of 2500 Francs.

The present watch is a very fine example of one of the exceedingly rare triple calendar chronograph wristwatches made by Breguet during the 1960s. It is preserved in beautiful, unmolested original overall condition.

The layout of the dial and the solid and masculine case proportions of the present watch echo the greatest watch designs of all times, most notably references 1518 and 2499 by Patek Philippe. Comparing it to its peers, it is inevitable though to immediately spot the more playful design of the dial, most notably the outer blue date ring. It is also noteworthy to mention that these exclusivities were made in much smaller quantities than their counterparts from Geneva. Inspired by French avant-garde design, these triple calendar chronographs by the celebrated house of Breguet are a connoisseur's choice and rarities on the market.
