CIRCA 1540
Painted with Saint Jerome kneeling on a chequered green and blue floor, holding a crucifix before a lion rampant and a castle, in a rocky landscape, the broad border with lozenge ornament reserved on green leaves alternating with scrolling ochre and blue foliage, within a raised ochre and green line rim (hairline cracks at 2 and 7 o'clock, small glaze loss to Jerome's left foot, minor rim chipping, some glaze crazing)
14 7/8 in. (37.8 cm.) diam.
