Note:
This painting is from the collection of Ye Qianyu (1907-1995), a pioneer in modern Chinese cartoon world, a famous painter and a respected art teacher. Ye served as the director of Chinese paintings at the Central Academy of Fine Arts from 1954 and established new styles in addition to the traditional style. Ye Qianyu and Zhang Daqian were close friends. In 1945 Ye lived in Zhang's home in Chengdu for three months, which gave the two time to exchange ideas about art and painting.
