Marked Fabergé, with the workmaster's mark of Feodor Afanassiev, St Petersburg, 1908-1917, indistinct scratched inventory number, possibly 18523
Circular, the body enamelled in translucent grey over a wavy guilloché ground within opaque white enamel and bright-cut borders, the hinged cover centering a gold-mounted rose-cut diamond, within a chased gold foliate garland, the laurel chased border with diamond set thumb-piece, marked on the flange and inside cover and base
1 5/8 in. (4.2 cm.) diameter

Acquired by the present owner circa 1950.
