With a Breguet miniature watchmaker desk-shaped presentation box.

In 1795 Abraham-Louis Breguet invented the tourbillon to counteract the effects of gravitational pull on the escapements of clocks and watches in their constant change of position. The tourbillon invention received its patent from Frances's ministry of the interior on 26th June 1801. This new creation successfully solved the issue of gravitational pull by rotating the entire balance and escapement about their common axis once a minute, averaging out the positional errors by constant rotation.

The Breguet Double Tourbillon exemplifies Breguet's most important invention. Inspired directly by the principles with which Breguet revolutionized watch making the mechanism consists of the double tourbillon, each working independently from one another. The two tourbillons are coupled by means of differential gears and mounted on a rotating center plate effecting a complete revolution in twelve hours.
