Lot Essay

The setting for the picture is near Baou de St Jeannet, in the Var Valley, just north west of Nice, South of France, which de Glehn visited frequently in the summers between the two World Wars. Several of the figures and their poses appear in the life drawings and studies de Glehn made from models during the winter months in London.

We are grateful to Laura Wortley for her assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
