19th century examples comprise: an old mine-cut and rose-cut diamond miniature key; a French silver man at arms; a silver and gold head of a dog with coloured paste eyes; a silver miniature wall thermometer; and a lava cameo carved as a female bust, all on gold pins; later examples comprise: a diamond and enamel ladybird; a diamond and ruby horse head; and a greyhound (possibly representing a messenger badge) (8)
