Lot Essay

William Entrekin was born in Rome, Georgia in 1946, the son of mill workers. As a youth the family moved often, leaving Entrekin feeling rootless and often isolated. This solitude was fertile ground for his imagination and creativity that later in life would pour out into his work. The artist's meticulous technique and strong composition elevate the common place objects and ordinary people he depicts. Entrekin's paintings have garnered an impressive list of collectors, including the Columbia Museum of Art, Columbia, South Carolina, the Morris Museum, Morristown, New Jersey, and the Georgia State Art Collection, Atlanta, Georgia.
