Lot Essay
"In 1970, Ram received a Fellowship from a Rockefeller organization to spend a year in the U.S. He travelled extensively although his base was in New York. We saw a lot of Ram during this period. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to renew and extend our relationship from the Indian years. Although Ram's painting always included images of people (often sad and troubled) and places (like Ghats), in later years he seemed to move on to abstract landscapes - colorful, provocative - destined to stretch both mind and spirit."
