Acquired directly from the artist in New Delhi, 1965
The current owner was visiting India on her honeymoon in 1965 staying at the American Embassy as well as with Indira Gandhi, who was a family friend. Gandhi introduced the owners to Husain who struck a rapport with the young couple.
