Lot Essay

With Chopard Certificate of Origin dated 12 December 2001, Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres watch rate Certificate no. 250104713 and Republic and Canton of Geneva Certificate of Origin. Furthermore delivered with instructions manual, Chopard Manufacture brochure, copy of the original bill, original fitted veneered presentation box and outer packaging.

The present watch is number 13 of a limited edition of 1860 examples of this model made.

Chopard's L.U.C Calibre 1.98 is the first hand-wound movement to feature four barrels, each of which contains a 47 cm-long mainspring. The sum of their lengths is a lavish 1.88 metres, which enables this calibre to store sufficient energy for 216 hours (i.e. 9 days) of uninterrupted running. This exceptional autonomy is displayed by a large power reserve indicator on the dial. The COSC-certified chronometer movement requires winding only once a week, the additional two days of unused power reserve provide a comfortable margin and enhance the stability of the complex mechanism's rate.
