Lot Essay

This work is one of a series of studies for the final version of Les premiers fruits (Salomon and Cogeval, vol. II, no. VII-63), part of a decorative cycle commissioned for the dining room of Adam Natanson, whose family founded the avant-garde journal La revue blanche. The finished decorative panel is currently in the collection of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California.
