BLANCPAIN, SPORT - Fifty Fathoms

STAINLESS STEEL AUTOMATIC ANTIMAGNETIC WRISTWATCH WITH DATE DISPLAY
With a history of over 250 years and thirteen generations of watchmakers, Blancpain has a strong legacy of creativity and expertise. They are proud to be one of the few watchmakers in existence who has never manufactured a quartz timepiece. Specialists in the creation of mechanical movements, Blancpain became the first watchmaker to offer all the six consequential complications - ultra-slim movement, moon phase calendar, perpetual calendar, split-seconds chronograph, tourbillon and minute repeater- at the same time in 1988. One of the chief principles of Blancpain is that mechanical watches have a soul which has to be carefully nurtured, hence for their high complication models such as the 1735, two specialist watchmakers are dedicated to making one watch each, per year, from beginning to end. For someone as enthused about serious mechanical complications as our Collector, Blancpain was a natural addition to his horological portfolio. In this auction, we can find many of Blancpain's celebrated models, such as the groundbreaking Fifty Fathoms model, which was the industry's first modern diver's wristwatch, the understated Villeret which is reminiscent of the elegant lines of traditional pocket watches and the unique pink mother-of-pearl erotic automaton wristwatch.
