Lot Essay

The present work relates to the right hand side of Figures in a Farmyard by Robert Colquhoun, painted in 1953, which is in the collection of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh. There is a similar painting called Man and Pig in the collection of the Leicestershire Education Committee. Prunella Clough also owned an oil study of the pig on its own, simply called A Pig.

We are very grateful to Roger Bristow, Davy Brown and Robin Muir for their assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
