Marked P. Ovchinnikov with the Imperial warrant, Moscow, 1899-1908
Baluster form, on a circular foot, the lower section with lobed twisted ropework cartouches enamelled with Romanov griffins and shaded varicolor flowers on pale green, pink, light blue, red and green grounds, beneath shaded varicolor stylized flowers and foliage on a cream ground, the shaped handles with conforming decoration and knob finials, marked under base

Lot Essay

The present lot was doubtless executed in the workshop of Feodor Rückert, although his mark is not visible. Ovchinnikov, together with such firms as Fabergé and Kurliukov, purchased and retailed many of Rückert's works.
