Sima Tai (The Play Horse's Stage) is one of the oldest historical sites in the city of Xuzhou. In 206 BC, Han Yu successfully destroyed the Qin dynasty and set up his own empire with its capital at Peng Cheng (present day Xuzhou), naming himself Hegemon-King of Western Chu. Upon the mountains at the south of the city, he built a stage for martial art performances, horse performances and soldier parades, hence the term Sima Tai.
