Lot Essay

Collaborative artists Soren Pors and Arpana Rao's The Uncle Phone is a working elongated telephone designed specifically for Rao's lazy uncle. "This project is inspired by my uncle's peculiar habit of asking people to do things for him that he can very well do himself, such as dialing the number on a landline telephone (while he only listens). This two meter long phone was made to express the unique way that my uncle uses regular telephone; it requires two people to operate - one to dial and another to speak."
Arpana Rao (in dialogue with the artist)
