Lot Essay

We are grateful to Fred Meijer, of the RKD, for suggesting the attribution on the basis of photographs, and for proposing that the central figure group is likely to be the work of a collaborator in the Francken workshop. Meijer notes that the present lot is of finer quality than a variant sold at Christie's, New York, 15 May 1996, lot 39 (RKD Images no. 11231).
