'Manipulating Realities' was part of the series leading up to 'Old Arguments' [...] which had portraits of Frida Kahlo, Amrita Sher-Gil and myself with the one iconic image that characterizes our individual works. 'Manipulating Realities' was a fore runner to this work. This painting addresses the angst of being a woman artist in India and trying to find recourse through the language of Frida and Amrita.'
