Lot Essay

Edward Lucie-Smith comments on Frink's drawings of horses and riders (see E. Lucie-Smith, Elisabeth Frink Sculpture Since 1984 and Drawings, London, 1994, p. 130), 'the most obviously 'classical', and undoubtedly some of the most beautiful of Frink's horse-and-rider drawings are those which portray horses with riders or attendants in profile, sometimes in groups'.
