Lot Essay

Like many of the British Orientalists, Frank Dillon spent much of his life abroad, in Spain and Italy as well as Egypt and the Far East. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institution, mainly views of Egypt. This is a relatively early work by Dillon, who was trained by James Holland.
