Rectangular with rounded corners, hammered throughout, one corner of the cover applied with a tulip and bud flower spray set with two pear-shaped cabochon sapphires and seven diamonds, with cabochon sapphire thumb-piece, marked on the flange

Lot Essay

The hammered gold surface and jewelled floral decoration of this cigarette case epitomise the style of works produced by Eduard Schramm's workshop. A similarly decorated hammered gold cigarette case by Schramm was sold Christie's, New York, 20 April 2001, lot 440.
